WHAT ARE THE FUNDS FOR?

It takes us approximately 4 weeks of work to make it happen on location, and 10 months of planning it online and on-site!

Our amazing location is a pine forest on the beach with limited on-site vehicle access which makes the ETC production somewhat difficult but fun since we need to bring pretty much everything to the location for 5 festival days.

All of the crew and people involved are friends and volunteers.

The minimum goal of our campaign is 6000€.

The better feedback we get, the more quality we bring to the festival: more workshops, artists and better infrastructure..

Funds will cover:

generator and fuel needed to run the whole content of the festival
security
artist fees
renting quality stretch tents to keep all the visitors safe also during the worst storms (all the prayers goes to the sun to keep us warm as last few summers)
covers for kitchen area and the entrance
drinkable water for all the visitors
bathrooms (yes, they are going to be cleaned every day - we know that nobody likes them, but if kept clean and with just a little bit of attention they can do a great work for these 5 days) - we understand that you like to “plant your flower” in the wood, but remember that the paper you throw must be picked up by someone after you. We had problems with locals in the previous editions because the wood was full of paper..

Some of the artists we brought in the previous editions visited Croatia for the first time and had an amazing time playing sessions that are going to be remembered for a long time.

To name a few artists: Aba Shanti-I, Gussie P ft. Errol Bellot, Kibir la Amlak, High Elements, RDH Hi-Fi, Jah Chalice, Sister Habesha, Baodub, Jah Wind, Digitron, Warrior Charge and many more local, regional and international artists.

Our idea is to book around 35 artists playing mostly roots, reggae and dub music from all Europe, but not forgetting our Fever stage that rocked the place in the last 3 editions with the best of cumbia, funk, disco, dubstep, deep house, drum&bass & world music.

Booked artists will be announced as the campaign will move on.

WORKSHOPS/LECTURES:

In the past editions we offered different workshops collaborating with local associations dealing with slackline, circus, aerial silks, fire show, sea-diving, ecology lectures, recycling, sound system equipment workshops, DIY music equipment etc.

That had an important impact on the families and children making this festival a place where all generations can have fun and learn something.
There is a dedicated kids' area and different workshops crafted especially with our youth in mind. We made "ESCAPE THE PARENTS", a festival inside the festival, with special care for the kids!

To run all these activities there is a big effort by all the participants and by us, the production team. As we said, the better feedback we get from you people the richer the program we will bring you to Barbariga.

FESTIVAL TICKETS

To be part of Escape the City 2023, it is simple: CROWDFUND THE PROJECT!

What does that mean?

This year's festival capacity is 500 people. Last year we had a SOLD-OUT edition.

We will start the campaign with a limited number of early bird tickets for 50€, then gradually increasing till 80€.
On the door, if there are still some tickets left, 90€.

All tickets include:

5 days of festival (we run music from Wednesday 26.07 till Monday morning - 31.07)
camping on the beautiful Istrian coast, 100% covered by shade!

We offer 5 special group ticket promotions where you can have 5 tickets for 275€.

We want to keep the vibe familiar and we aim to give and have space for dancing, chilling, talking and resting when needed.

HOW TO GET THERE?

Barbariga is a small sea village near Vodnjan, easily accessible by car, bicycle, bus or airplane.

The nearest (bigger) city is Pula, where you have a good connection to national and international buses. For those of you who reach us from far, the nearest airports are:

Pula (PUY - 20 min ride)
Rijeka (RJK - 1:30h ride)
Trieste (TRS - 1:30h ride)
Venice (VCE/TSF - 03:00h ride)
